53 By the Sea, known for its oceanfront views and fine dining experiences, launched its new weekend lunch and happy hour earlier this month.
53 By the Sea’s new lunch menu is offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays only. The prix fixe menu features a three-course menu that includes a seafood salad, an entrée of your choice and a dessert.
The seafood salad includes shrimp, calamari, clams, ‘ahi, frisee and herbs with a caper vinaigrette.

The seafood roll has been one of the most popular entrees so far. It features a combo of lobster, shrimp, scallops, celery and lemon.
Seafood afficionados will also enjoy the fusilli pasta ($54) — which is topped with seared scallops, asparagus, Ho Farms tomatoes and mint — and the pan-fried salmon ($55), which is served with haricot vert and French Vermouth beurre blanc.

Those craving heartier options can choose from the grilled half Cornish hen ($55) — served with roasted sunchokes and a rosemary sauce — rib-eye steak ($65) and breaded pork escalope ($55), served with arugula, tomato, olives and capers. The latter is reminiscent of a katsu, thanks to its crispy exterior.
The featured dessert is crème caramel, topped with a lilikoʻi crisp and fresh fruit.

Happy hour is from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on weekends at the eatery’s bar and in the lounge area. The menu offers exclusive dishes that diners can only get during happy hour. 53 By the Sea accepts reservations for happy hour; walk-ins are accepted as well.
Featured dishes include Sweetland goat’s cheese plate ($14); smoked ‘ahi rillettes ($12); seafood roll with lobster, shrimp and scallops ($30); and abalone escargot, served with baguette toast ($28).
The goat’s cheese plate features cheeses from Sweetland Farms; the plate includes local Gouda, tomme and goat chevre with mulberry and cranberry-hibiscus jam with housemade brioche.
The wagyu burger ($38) — comprising grilled onions and cheddar in a brioche bun, served with twice-fried ‘ulu — has been a customer favorite so far. The seafood roll is similar to the one featured on the eatery’s lunch menu.
Happy hour beverages include a variety of local beers ($6), wines by the glass ($7), and discounted cocktails ($12).
