Consolidated Theatres will host iconic movies on its big screen through its “Sunday Epics” series in 2025. The films start at 2 p.m. on the second Sunday of select months. Here are the films planned for the rest of this year, click the listings for more information:
Gone with the Wind (Feb. 9): This classic tells the story of Scarlett O’Hara, a Southern belle and her many romances, including a turbulent one with Rhett Butler. The story takes place during the Civil War. Rated PG. 3 hours 58 minutes.
Lawrence of Arabia (March 9): The sweeping tale of T.E. Lawrence (Peter O’Toole), a British officer sent to Arabia in 1917, where he becomes a leader in the Arabic rebellion against the Turks. Rated PG. 3 hours 42 minutes.
Ben-Hur (April 13): The tale of a Jewish prince who is betrayed and sent into slavery by a Roman friend and comes back for revenge. Rated PG. 3 hours 22 minutes.
The Deer Hunter (June 8): This movie explores how the Vietnam war impacts several friends from a small steel mill town in Pennsylvania. Rate R. 3 hours 3 minutes.
Doctor Zhivago (Aug. 10): A Russian physician and poet married to another falls in love with a political activist’s wife during the World War I. Rated PG-13. 3 hours 13 minutes.
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (extended edition) (July 13): The epic tale of a Hobbit from the Shire and eight companions who set out to destroy the powerful One Ring and save Middle-earth from the Dark Lord Sauron. Rated PG-13. 3 hours 48 minutes.
Seven Samurai (Sept. 14): Farmers from a village battling bandits hire a veteran samurai for help and he gathers six others to join him. Rated PG. 3 hours 32 minutes.
War and Peace (Oct. 12): This film explores the personal lives of two aristocratic families during Napoleon’s disastrous 1812 invasion. Rated PG. 3 hours 28 minutes.
The Great Escape (Nov. 9): The story of a group of Allied soldiers who plan not just to escape but to draw Nazi forces away from battle. Not rated. 2 hours 52 minutes.
The Ten Commandments (Dec. 14): The story of Moses as he discovers his Hebrew heritage and God’s expectations for him. With the aid of plagues and divine intervention, he leads people out of captivity in Egypt and across the Red Sea. Rated G. 3 hours 40 minutes.
