‘Singin’ in the Rain’ in Honolulu

This movie theater company with locations across Oahu is bringing musicals back to the big screen in 2025.

Consolidated Theatres will host classics on its big screen through its “Musical Mondays” series in 2025. The films play at 7 p.m. on select Mondays. Here are the films planned for the rest of this year: 

West Side Story (Feb. 24): Members of two rival street gangs fall in love. This academy award-winning film dives into gang warfare and love in an ever-changing city. Rated PG. 151 minutes.

Mamma Mia! (March 24): The daughter of a once-rebellious single mother invites three men who might possibly be her father to her upcoming wedding. Rated PG-13. 109 minutes. 

Singin’ in the Rain (April 28): This classic explores the struggles of one Hollywood production studio as it transitions to “talkies” in the late 1920s. Rated G. 103 minutes.

On the Town (May 26): Three sailors have 24 hours of leave in New York City. In the subway, one sees a poster of “Miss Turnstiles of the Month,” who is a woman named Ivy Smith, and they set out in search of her, meeting a cast of other friends along the way. Not rated. 98 minutes.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch (June 23): Hedwig, a rock singer living in a trailer in Kansas is the victim of a botched sex-change operation. Rated R. 95 minutes.

Wizard of Oz (July 28): This iconic musical shares the story of Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto who are swept away from their Kansas farm by a tornado and go on a quest to find the wizard, who can grant wishes and return her home. Rated G. 101 minutes.

Little Shop of Horrors (Oct. 27): The nerdy florist Rick Moranis grows a giant man-eating plant. Rated PG-13. 94 minutes. 

Meet me in St. Louis (Nov. 24): The story of a girl and her crush on the boy next door. Not rated. 113 minutes. 

White Christmas (Dec. 22): A successful song-and-dance duo becomes romantically involved with a sister act. They team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general. Not rated. 120 minutes.
