Looking for a home with direct ocean access and space for the whole family — and some guests? A 1.5-acre ocean front estate on a triple lot in Kāhala has hit the market with a $65 million asking price.
Located at 4823 Kāhala Ave., Hale Hanohano, or the "House of Honor," was recently listed by Coldwell Banker Island Properties' Derek Kamm and Hawaiʻi Life's Noel Shaw.
As Aloha State Daily dives into covering Hawai‘i real estate, we'll be looking at the subject from a lot of different angles. Affordability issues. New housing development. Neighborhood bargains. And, yes, even the ultra-luxury market. This particular listing is one of Hawaiʻi's most expensive listings ever, according to Coldwell Banker Island Properties, citing information from the state's various MLS, or multiple listing service, providers.

Built in 2018, Hale Hanohano — which was designed by architect Kristan Eiserloh and constructed by Smith Brothers Construction — has 11,870 square feet of living space in three different residences, along with 213 feet of ocean frontage, Coldwell Banker Island Properties said.
There are six beds and eight total baths, and its three residences are "ideal for multi-generational living and entertaining," the listing, which can be found online here, notes.
“It is, in my opinion, the most exquisite property ever built on Oʻahu, on what could possibly be the most unique and tranquil lot on Kāhala Avenue,” Kamm told Aloha State Daily Thursday.
Among the propertyʻs features, according to Coldwell Banker Island Properties:
— The main residence includes a great room with a 30-foot chandelier and floor-to-ceiling windows that open to lanais with ocean views; an open-plan gourmet kitchen; a primary suite with a private balcony, "spa-like bathroom," walk-in closet and other features; a home office and media room; and a 2,400-bottle capacity wine cellar and adjacent tasting room.
— The second building, an adult children's home, is a "self-contained living space" with open-plan living and dining areas, a fully equipped kitchen, private patios and access to shared outdoor spaces.
— The third building is a guest house that has a private entrance, full kitchen and bar, an open-concept living area and two en-suite bedrooms, as well as access to the shared outdoor amenities, a private gym and guest parking.
— Outside, the property has direct access to Kāhala Beach; an Olympic-sized heated lap pool with underwater speakers, spa and Baja ledge; tropical gardens; a number of lanais and courtyards; covered paths, spaces for open-air dining and a shared walkway that connects the three residences; and retractable pocket doors, among other features.
As far as record-breaking sales go, a home in Kīlauea that sold for $46.1 million in 2018 tops the largest residential transactions statewide, according to the information provided by Coldwell Banker Island Properties, and the $27.5 million sale of a Park Lane Ala Moana condominium in October 2023 remains the largest residential sale recorded on Oʻahu.
