The Year of the Snake, which starts Wednesday, Jan. 29, will bring changes, according to Michael Wu, a certified Feng Shui Master, who works at Feng Shui Arts & Gifts in Chinatown. Wu provides birthday readings and house inspections, according to his website.

“The snake is an energy with morbidities, so that means changing,” Wu said. “Some people go travel. Some people change jobs. Moving to a new place is also possible.”

Others will get into trouble or even require surgery because the energy is moving, Wu added.  On a larger scale, changes — especially with policies — will affect the country and world, he said.

Looking at the zodiac, the snake will clash with the pig or boar and they need to be “very careful,” Wu added. The tiger has two negative energies that will fly to them this year. The first is misfortune and the second is a negative energy described as 3 Killings.

The presence of the No. 5 star, which has negative energy and flies to the northeast, means those residing in the northeast section of their house should be careful to not get affected by that negative energy, he said. Additionally, 3 Killings is in the east, so those traveling to the east, such as the East Coast, should travel with caution, he said.

“All the lucky stars, they occupy the south in 2025,” Wu said. “So that means south of our home resides good energy. We want people to spend more time physically in the south, and travel to south is fine.”

Feng Shui Arts & Gifts is located at 1023 Maunakea Street in Downtown Honolulu and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. For more information go to: masterwufengshui.com/about.
