Vibe turns 5, celebrates by giving $5,000 worth of free marketing services to one local nonprofit

In 2020, founder and CEO Erica Mau-Schank branched out from her family’s business to create her own Hawaiʻi-based marketing agency, which caters to more than 30 small- to medium-sized companies and nonprofits. Today, her mission to boost business, while increasing community impact, continues.

To celebrate five years of business in Hawaiʻi, Vibe Creative Marketing will donate $5,000 in pro bono marketing services to one local nonprofit.

“I’m excited about this initiative because we’re giving back in a creative and meaningful way,” founder and CEO Erica Mau-Schank told Aloha State Daily. “I’m looking forward to starting from the ground up, helping craft their strategy and making the biggest impact that we can.”

The selected organization will receive digital marketing services, social media aid and a bespoke brand strategy, per the company.

Applications are due by March 14 and can be submitted here: vibecreativemarketing.com/5for5.

Mau-Schank said the goal was to make the application process “simple, easy and not too time consuming.”

Applicants must complete a “five-question online form, and upload a short, compelling video explaining what receiving this assistance would mean to the organization,” according to the company. “A panel of five distinguished and impartial guest judges, representing diverse industries and from across Hawaiʻi, will collaborate with the Vibe team to select the winning nonprofit.”

Mau-Schank added, this initiative is something new Vibe is introducing. One benefit, she said, is learning about new nonprofits. “If we got 10 applications, I would consider that awesome. We’re a small, young company, too, so it’s mostly been shared by word-of-mouth to our family and friends.”

She founded Vibe Creative Marketing on Jan. 28, 2020, after parting ways from her family business to build a team “with a thriving business culture, and a team connected through shared values and a passion for communities,” said Mau-Schank, who also serves as the board chair of Hawaiʻi Youth Symphony.

“I think having a strong mission, vision and values statement – living that from the top down – can be really important,” she said about her company culture. Having everyone buy into those values from day one, so we can hold each other accountable. In Hawaiʻi, it can be hard to hire, so take the time to hire the right person.”

“We like to say, ‘Your vibe attracts your tribe’, and it’s a little corny, but it’s really what we need,” Mau-Schank said. “We want to find people who share the same values as we do. We do amazing work in the long run when we have the same goal.”

In 2025, she aims “to continue forming long-lasting and genuine partnerships with our customers and community.” The Vibe team enjoys participating in beach and community cleanup projects year-round.
