Fat Tuesday is March 4, and Penny’s Waikīkī Malasadas is celebrating with a sweet-and-savory treat.

For one day only, customers can enjoy the business’s applewood smoked bacon malasadas and beignets, which come drizzled with Vermont maple syrup. Traditional malasadas come in boxes of three ($9.25), six ($16.25) or 12 ($27.25) with a choice of sugar (Hawaiian white cane sugar, cinnamon sugar or a specialty sugar of the day). The business’s Fat Tuesday special will be a $1.25 upcharge per piece based on the base traditional price.
Penny’s filled malasadas are also available in boxes of three ($11.25), six ($18.25) and 12 ($31.25). Choose from fillings like coconut crème, ube crème, original custard, Nutella crème, homemade jam of the day (like blueberry) and a specialty crème of the day. Ube crème and coconut crème are the most popular fillings. All malasadas are made to order.
