Looking for oceanfront luxury on the Valley Isle?
A legacy estate on Maui's Keawakapu Beach is on the market with a $32.5 million price tag, listed by Island Sotheby's International Realty's Ryan MacLaughlin and Alex Cortez.
The 0.6-acre beachfront property can be found at 3060 S. Kīhei Road near Wailea, and includes a 5,435-square-foot, four-bedroom single-family home with five full bathrooms and one half-bath, as well as a 690-square-foot, one-bedroom, one-bath ‘ohana unit.

MacLaughlin told Aloha State Daily in a phone call that the square footage is really what sets the property apart from others.
"It's a very large property that's basically three floors," he said. "And what's unique is this actually technically has a basement — a legal basement — which is extremely rare. ... That provides a lot of square footage and something that's unique that could be a safe room or what have you, because that's what people are looking for in designing homes."
The separate ‘ohana unit also is "pretty unique," he says.
But Keawakapu Beach "is really the selling point," MacLaughlin says.
"Yes, the home is beautiful and it's totally turnkey. Somebody's going to walk right into this property and be able to live luxuriously, especially since we're including all the furniture," he said. "But Keawakapu is probably one of the most exclusive enclaves ... and it's because there's only 30 properties that are on that white sand beach."

MacLaughlin says it's rare that homes in this area are sold, noting that "they don't trade often at all."
He said the ideal buyer is going to be a second-home owner, "and it's somebody looking for extreme privacy but still wants the beachfront location. And that, in my opinion, in my career, is always very, very difficult to find, because somebody who wants privacy probably doesn't want to be right on the beach because our beaches are public."
But this property, he says, sits on a bit of a bluff, and with the landscaping "creates this buffer of privacy, where you can just sit down on your lānai and you are seeing pure ocean views, yet there could be people walking on the beach right in front of you and you can't even see them."
There are also walls on all sides of the property except for that facing the ocean, as well as a front gate.
MacLaughlin says that's what the ideal buyer is looking for.
"They want that privacy, security, knowing that they're going to have that, but [can] still enjoy the setting of the beach."
According to the listing, which can be found online here, the property also has a resort-style pool with a waterfall and grotto, as well as a "generously-sized" spa and a chef's kitchen, among other amenities. It is being offered fully furnished.
