Are your keiki looking for something to do this summer? Children and teens across the Islands — or their parents — can check out these chances for some fun.
— On O‘ahu, Summer Fun is a seasonal day camp operated by the City and County of Honolulu.
According to the program's website, the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation aims to serve approximately 10,000 keiki and teens through the program each year.
Here, kids are "engaged in learning experiences in a fun and safe environment," the site says.
The 2025 Summer Fun program is set to run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays from June 9 through July 25, not including holidays on June 11 and July 4, according to the site. It's open to kids who are 6 before Aug. 1, and not older than 13 by July 25.
Registration for keiki will be done primarily online and will open based on geographic park district: District 1, East Honolulu, from 5 p.m. May 12; District 2, West Honolulu, from 5 p.m. May 13; District 3, Leeward O‘ahu, from 5 p.m. May 14; District 4, Windward and North O‘ahu, from 5 p.m. May 15; and Central O‘ahu, from 5 p.m. May 16.
The program has a registration fee of $25 per child, with an additional activity fee of no more than $100 for sites that offer extra-curricular activities, the program site notes. Fees will not exceed $125 per keiki.
Some Summer Fun sites will also offer Summer Plus, an extracurricular program by Kama‘āina Kids or the YMCA, which offers activities before and/or after the regular program for children who sign up. Before care is $7 a day while after care is $9 a day, according to the site.
