A Hawaiian crime saga featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, will be released by 20th Century and Disney, according to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who shared the news on Instagram.

Martin Scorsese will be the director. The film tells the story of a mob boss vying for control of the Hawaiian Islands in the 1960s and 1970s and is set to be a combination of Scorsese’s earlier films “Goodfellas” (1990) and “The Departed” (2006). Scorsese is the director of a number of films, including “The Wolf of Wall Street” (2013), “The Irishman” (2019) and “Killers of the Flower Moon” (2023).

“I was a little boy growing up in Honolulu when this real-life story was taking place and these real men — ruthlessly did what they had to do for respect, money, power but more importantly — for the reclamation of our Polynesian culture,” shared Johnson on social media. “Working closely with Marty as his vision for our story begins to take focus has been a gift to witness and absorb. I’m honored to work with this inspiring creative team and even more blessed to call them my friends.”

The script for this crime saga will be led by Nick Bilton, a former columnist for The New York Times and a special correspondent for Vanity Fair.

"The story tells of a formidable and charismatic mob boss who rises to build the islands’ most powerful crmiinal empire, fighting to preserve his ancestral land,” shared Johnson on Instagram. “Igniting the last great American mob saga, the war for cultural survival takes place in the unlikeliest of places: paradise.” The movie currently does not have a title, added Johnson on social media.
