I love the deals during Moku Kitchen’s afternoon happy hour from 2 to 5:30 p.m. The 50% off on small plates and $12 pizzas (instead of the normal $18-$21 price) are sweet discounts.
Night owls can now enjoy these same discounts at a later hour — the Kakaʻako eatery just brought back its late-night happy hour. You can take advantage of the restaurant’s happy hour deals during the last hour it’s open. Late-night happy hour starts at 8 p.m. from Sundays to Wednesdays, and at 9 p.m. Thursdays to Saturdays. Note that these deals are for dine-in only.

We’re told the eatery had a late-night happy hour pre-pandemic, but this is the first time it brought it back since Covid-19. The portions of the happy hour items are the same as those in the dishes on the a la carte menu, so you can rest assured you’re getting the best bang for your buck.

These petite sliders comprise bulgogi-style pork, kimchi, Asian pear and Sriracha aioli in housemade buns. One order comes with two sliders, but you can add another for an additional charge. It’s a nice blend of savory and sweet with a slight kick, thanks to the housemade kimchi.

This is one of my favorite appetizers, largely because of the chevre topping. The roasted squash ravioli ($7) has a slightly sweet flavor because of its filling, which is nicely balanced by a walnut sage pesto.
While I love ordering the garlic truffle oil fries — which are a steal at $6 during happy hour — the Szechuan stir-fry green beans topped with mac nuts ($7) are a popular option if you want something a little healthier. The green beans are coated in a flavorful medley of chili, garlic, ginger and oyster sauce, and I’m a huge fan of the nutty texture from the plentiful mac nuts.

Pizzas are an especially good deal during happy hour, since the portion size is the same — and pizzas normally cost $18 to $21. While Hamakua mushroom and truffle oil and kalua pork and pineapple are the two most popular pizza flavors, other options include margherita — topped with Hau‘ula Farm tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and organic fresh basil — and roasted veggie, along with a rotating pizza special.
During the afternoon and late-night happy hour, take advantage of drink discounts like $6 off the Monkeypod Mai Tai, $2 off all wines by the glass and draft beers, and $2 off all Moku libations.
Plus, if you go for happy hour on a day it starts at 8 p.m., you can still catch some of the eatery’s featured live music.
It’s also worthwhile to note that SALT At Our Kakaʻako has a brand-new parking system. You no longer have to take a ticket when you enter the parking garage. You scan a QR code (posted by the elevators) to enter your vehicle license plate number and payment info. You’ll be automatically charged upon exiting the structure (the parking gate goes up automatically), but the first hour should be free.
