Dave & Buster’s Honolulu has listed about 50 unique items up for auction from its former location at Ward Entertainment Center on a website built for just that by Caring Transitions of Honolulu.

The local events, arcade, sports bar and restaurant business relocated last month to Ala Moana Center, in the former Shirokiya Japan Village Walk space, which spans 45,000 square feet featuring interactive and immersive experiences for the whole family.

The online auction, which will end Thursday, May 22, includes kitchen and cleaning supplies and commercial-grade equipment; dinnerware, tables, chairs, and patio furniture and even booths; and bar essentials, ideal for anyone in the food & beverage and hospitality sectors.

Local pickup is preferred on Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, although shipping is available at buyer’s expense, the site states.

Steve Tokita, president of Caring Transitions of Honolulu, told Aloha State Daily this commercial auction most closely resembles a closing sale. “D&B’s got a lot of new stuff for their new space.”

Dave & Busters Ala Moana Center General Manager Andrew Shimabukuro said by email, "This is our way to recoup costs from the move."

"We are just trying to clear out the old location," he said. "If items don’t get sold, they will be either donated or discarded."

Tokita also said there are other notable items such as collectible beer taps, heavy equipment like a commercial compressor and lift, as well as cleaning supplies, if of interest to those in these business areas.

CTBids strategy for promoting auctions of this scale include posting on Facebook Marketplace, emailing registered bidders and speaking with local media, he added.

According to its website, Caring Transitions of Honolulu offers professional relocation services including downsizing, decluttering and estate sales on Oʻahu.

Tokita, who leads a local small team, noted that business has remained steady year round. "Typically, we have one to four liquidations on our site at a time.”

“In our industry, the senior market is what we follow, helping kūpuna and their families, who may be feeling overwhelmed. Our relocation services are helpful, especially for people moving off-island.”

In the future, Tokita said he aims to "scale-up," and to accomplish that goal, he is currently hiring more employees. "Like everyone else, hiring has been tough," he said.
