Almost a dozen dinosaurs have shown up at the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum as part of the special exhibit “Expedition Dinosaur: Into the Deep,” which runs May 24 through Jan. 25, 2026.
The 7,000-square-foot exhibit, located in the Castle Memorial Building, focuses on the “parallels between prehistoric marine ecosystems and the diverse aquatic habitats surrounding our islands today,” according to the museum’s website.
It includes 11 animatronic dinosaurs which arrived in four Matson containers, said Brandon Bunag, vice president of public programs for the museum. He spoke with ASD about the exhibit earlier this week.
Among the visitors is a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex, as well as several aquatic dinosaurs. Aloha State Daily went behind-the-scenes of the exhibit before it opened to share some of the creatures families might encounter in the new space.
