The weekend is almost here! Are you trying to figure out what to do? Aloha State Daily has rounded up five things happening this weekend:
- CreativeMornings. Looking for free inspiration before 9 a.m. on Friday, May 30? Check out CreativeMornings. This month, the guest speaker is Scott Na‘auao, of Kāneʻohe, who is a partner and creative director for Welcome Stranger, a Hawaiʻi-based branding and graphic design firm. CreativeMornings has chapters around the world from Cairo, Egypt to Omaha, Nebraska. This month, each chapter will discuss a common theme: revival. There are events in 249 cities and 70 countries.
- Sunflowers. Celebrate the start of summer vacation with keiki in the sunflower fields at Waimānalo Country Farms. The sunflower fields opened for the season on May 21. Pets are not allowed. Cars can enter from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fields close at 4 p.m. and the market stand closes at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $10 cash for kamaʻāina and military or $8 cash for keiki. Details.
- Dinosaurs. A group of the prehistoric reptiles have taken up residence at the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum. The Science and Sustainability Festival is this Saturday, May 31. Doors open at 9 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. Admission to the museum during the special event is $5 for kamaʻāina and military and includes admission to the new exhibits on deep sea coral and aquatic dinosaurs.
- Acai bowls. Looking for a tasty treat? Oakberry Acai opened its first Hawaiʻi location in Kapolei Commons. The business soft opened on May 19 and will hold its grand opening on Saturday, May 31. Open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Bowls start at $12.25+.
- Movies! If you still haven’t seen it … Check out Disney’s live action “Lilo & Stitch.” The movie launched Friday, May 23, and already has grossed about $392 million worldwide. It ranks among the top 10 live-action Disney remakes, as previously reported by ASD. Read more about one of its screenwriters, Chris Kekaeniokalani Bright, as well the surfing dog, Dale. Tickets are $19 for keiki, $20 for seniors and $24 for general admission. Get tickets.
