Shop, eat and listen to music in the sculpture garden at Capitol Modern through its Summer Solstice event, Night//Shift: Summer Rising. The First Friday event is cohosted by Capitol Modern and the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design. It features live performances from Johnny Suite and Irie Love, among other artists.
"Shangri La's beloved Night//Shift event returns with the Summer Solstice, a chance to gather our community together as we welcome a new season," Navid Najafi, associate curator of programs and social practice for Shangri La, told Aloha State Daily. "At this quarter's event, we are honored to use our platform to spotlight a myriad of local artists through performances by Irie Love, 2nd Nature, The Issentials and Johnny Suite."
Chef Kealoha Domingo, the founder of Nui Kealoha and a regularly featured chef at the Hawaiʻi Food and Wine Festival, will have culinary snacks at The Café.
Live performances start at 5 p.m. Here is a list of performances, which will take place in the museum’s sculpture garden:
5 p.m. 2nd Nature
6:15 p.m. The Issentials
7:15 p.m. Johnny Suite
8 p.m. Irie Love
Art + Flea will also have more than 20 vendors selling fashion, art and locally made goods on the Grand Lanai.
