Here are some happenings over the next week that will benefit organizations, causes and communities in Hawaiʻi.

There are many ways to get involved in community and contribute to local causes. Here are some ongoing or upcoming events that could be of interest:

Emalia’s Table Auction
Since 2015, Maui-based nonprofit Nā Keiki O Emalia has offered bereavement support for kids, teens and local families through peer-to-peer support groups, care packages and resources, free activities and more. Now through Thursday, June 19, you can register to bid on prizes. Funds raised will go back to the organization’s mission.

Food distribution in Salt Lake

Salt Lake's Island Family Christian Church will hold its monthly drive-up food distribution event, in partnership with Hawai'i Foodbank, this Saturday, June 21. Only one pickup per family is permitted and pre-registering here is required.

Event details:
When: Saturday, June 21. Pickup times vary, please select a time slot before arriving. Distributions occur every third Saturday of the month and does not require income documentation.
Location: Island Family Christian Church (3375 Salt Lake Blvd., Honolulu)

Community workday
Every third Saturday of the month, volunteers gather at Diamond Head State Monument to malama its Fort Ruger Pathway and Millennium Peace Garden, which contains native plants and trees. Come ready to get dirty. RSVP and signed digital waiver required here.

Event details:
Organized by the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, along with City and County of Honolulu’s community led project Trees for Kaimukī.
When: Saturday, June 21, from Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.
Location: Diamond Head State Monument (4180 Diamond Head Road, Honolulu). Parking information will be sent after you RSVP.

The Walk for Life
The 34th annual Honolulu AIDS walk, organized by the Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center, aims to raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS prevention and services statewide.

Event details:
When: Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m.
Registration opens at 8 a.m.
Location: Kapiʻolani Regional Park Bandstand (2686-2882 Kalākaua Ave, Honolulu). Public parking is available and at The Tom Moffatt WaikĪkĪ Shell, and on Monsarrat Ave. and Kalākaua Ave.

NABSTMC Honolulu Bowling Fundraiser
The National Association of Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers Motorcycle Club gives back to local communities across the country. All proceeds for this event will benefit the Honolulu chapter’s scholarship program.

Tickets start at $35, which includes registration fee, bowling shoes and one raffle ticket. For $10, you can purchase a themed basket raffle ticket, or donate here.

Event details:
When: Sunday, June 22, from noon to 2 p.m. Doors open at 11 a.m.
Location: Barbers Point Bowling Alley (91-1259 Saratoga Ave., Kapolei)
Free parking at venue.
