Oʻahu fireworks: your preview for July 4

Looking for fireworks that crackle and shimmer in the night sky on Independence Day? Aloha State Daily has you covered. We have rounded up possible shows for you and the keiki to enjoy from Waikīkī to the North Shore.

Haleʻiwa Beach Park. Enjoy a car show, live music and food and drinks at the beach. The event runs from 1 to 9 p.m. and includes a fireworks show. Free. Details.

Hukilau Marketplace. Polynesian Cultural Center will have activities for keiki, as well as ‘ono eats from local vendors at its Hukilau Marketplace. The activities start at 4 p.m. and include live entertainment from Boso Uso, North Kingdom, Natural Vibrations and Ekolu. Food and beverages are available for purchase. Cars can park in the Brigham Young University - Hawai’i parking lot. Umbrellas, chairs, blankets and mats are allowed, but no pop-up tents are permitted. The evening ends with a 9 p.m. fireworks show. Free.

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Enjoy a full day of activities from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Ward Field. Live music starts at 4:30 p.m. The headliners are Knox and We the Kings. Activities include a car show and petting zoo. There will also be temporary tattoos and prizes plus a free play area for keiki. Food and beverages are available for purchase. The fireworks start at 9 p.m. Please review the list of prohibited items, which include professional cameras, grills, coolers and outside food and beverages (including water). Open to all Department of Defense card holders. Details.

Kailua. For more than 75 years, Kailua Beach has been the home of a fireworks show. In 2000, a twilight air show was added that features aerobatic performances from local pilots. Alexander & Baldwin will sponsor shuttles between the Longs parking lot bus stop and the beach from 4:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. There are no reserved school parking lots this year. Details.

Schofield Barracks. The headliner is the American rock band Collective Soul with an opening performance from the pop band Echosmith at Weyand Field. The event starts at 4 p.m. with an aerial parachute demonstration, followed by a patriotic salute. Finally, at 8:45 p.m. the 25th Infantry and 312th Army Band will play the “1812 Overture.” Fireworks start at 9 p.m. Open to all Department of Defense card holders. Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by adults. Free. Details.

Waikīkī. Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort hosts regular fireworks at 7:45 p.m. on Fridays. Catch the show from Waikīkī Beach for free or take in the views from the water via boats, which depart Waikīkī Beach and Kewalo Basin Harbor for twilight cruises. Boat tickets for Nā Hōkū, one of the companies offering a July 4 fireworks tour, include a two-hour cruise and unlimited drinks. Tickets are $60-100.
