Tiger Sugar opened its third store in Waikīkī in January, and we checked it out during its soft opening. The boba shop is celebrating its grand opening this weekend (July 5 and 6) in a big way — the first 100 customers on both days will receive a free egg tart and a Sanrio gift.

Tiger Sugar’s Waikīkī location opens at 11 a.m.

The business is known for its variety of boba drinks — most notably its original black sugar boba tea with cream mousse and “tiger stripe” designs. But this location and Tiger Sugar’s original location on Nuʻuanu Avenue now have pastries as well, including croissant egg tarts, puffs and eclairs.

Egg tarts typically feature a flaky pastry shell filled with a sweet egg custard. Tiger Sugar’s version ($3.50), though, are slightly larger and feature a buttery, flaky crust without skimping on the amount of filling.

Both stores also have cream puffs ($2.99) and eclairs ($3.99). Both pastries are light and come with your choice of a chocolate or vanilla filling, perfect for accompanying your favorite boba drink.
