Here are some fun ideas for you and your 'ohana on Oʻahu this weekend.

Friday, July 11

Kids foam party. Keiki can enjoy foam machines starting at 1 p.m. at Wet ’n’ Wild Hawaiʻi in Kapolei. Access to bubbles is included with admission. Kamaʻāina tickets cost $37.99. Details.

Free music at Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden. The City and County of Honolulu is hosting a series of free concerts at its botanical gardens. Watch Bradda Ash at 5 p.m. at the Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden. Outside food and blankets are allowed. Bug repellant is recommended. No smoking or alcohol is permitted at the venue. Free. Details.

Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy. This Edgar Allan Poe-themed speakeasy offers a menu of cocktails inspired by four of the poet’s most beloved stories. The experience takes place at Hawaiian Brian’s Social Club. Each ticket includes four cocktails and 90 minutes in the speakeasy. Drinks include the Pale Blue Eye, Cocktail of Red Death, Edgar’s Twisted Brandy Milk Punch, and The Nevermore. This nationally touring speakeasy runs Friday and Saturday in Honolulu. Details.

Saturday, July 12

Bon dances. Honor and remember ancestors with a bon dance at one of several locations across Oʻahu this weekend: Haleʻiwa Shingon Mission (Haleʻiwa), Rissho Kosei-kai Buddhist Church of Hawaiʻi (Pearl City) and Higashi Hongwanji Mission of Hawaiʻi (Honolulu). Events occur Saturday and Sunday. Windward Buddhist Temple (Kailua) will also host an event on Saturday. Details.

Butterfly tea. Every second Saturday, enjoy tea and step inside a dome of Monarch butterflies at The Veranda at Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa. Take home a chrysalis box and watch a butterfly emerge. The butterfly keiki tea set is $75. For adults, choose from five tea sets with distinct menus and drinks ($75- $137). Four-hour validated valet parking is available for dining customers. Details.

5K, 10K or half marathon races. Aloha Racing will host its third annual Lauleʻa 5K, 10K and half marathon races. The races end at Wai Kai. Walk-up registration is $65 for the 5K, $85 for the 10K and $115 for the half marathon. Registration includes finisher medals, cooling towels and free photos. Shirts and post-race meals are optional and available as add-ons during registration. Details.

LeAnn Rimes. The country singer and songwriter will take the stage at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena. Kalaʻe + Kalena will be performing as the opening act. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at about $46. Details.

ʻAhi show. Tokyo Central Hawaiʻi, a Japanese specialty market, is hosting a demonstration on how to cut ʻahi for fresh poke, sashimi or steaks. The show starts at 10 a.m. and takes about 30 minutes. Details.

Sunday, July 13

Ice cream eating contest and Dive ’n’ Movie Night. Indulge in an ice cream eating contest in honor of National Ice Cream Month at Wet ’n’ Wild Hawaiʻi in Kapolei. The winner receives $300 cash. Contestants will get seven minutes to devour three tubs of Magnolia Ice Cream. The water park will also host a Dive ’n’ Movie Night featuring “Finding Nemo.” The park has extended hours until 7 p.m. Details.

Henry Kapono and friends. Each Sunday, Henry Kapono and others play live music at Duke’s restaurant within the Outrigger Waikīkī Beach Resort. Music starts at 4 p.m. and goes until 6 p.m. on Sundays. Can’t make it in person? Listen to the live stream on Facebook. Details.
