What to do this weekend on Oʻahu: Friday, July 25, to Sunday, July 27

Enjoy live music, $3 sushi, and back-to-school offers this weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The band Kapena will perform alongside the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra on Friday, July 25. The following day, keiki can also enjoy free school supplies and haircuts on a first-come, first-served basis through Child & Family Service.

Kapena Live! Watch the band Kapena perform with the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra in the show “Kapena Live!” at 7:30 p.m. at the Tom Moffat Waikīkī Shell. The band features Kelly Boy De Lima on vocals and ʻukulele; Lilo Tuala on vocals and bass; Kapena De Lima on vocals and keyboard; Kapena-Uriah De Lima on drums; and Marcus Sarmiento on electric guitar. Tickets for reserved seating are $58.50 - $123.50, while lawn seating is $38.50. Details.

$3 sushi is back. Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera is offering discounts on bluefin tuna nigiri from July 26 through July 28 for dine-in customers. During these dates, customers can feast on akami ($3, regular price $6), chutoro ($4.50, regular price $8.50), and otoro ($6, regular price $12).

Free school supplies, haircuts and physicals for keiki. Child & Family Service is hosting a free family event to help keiki get ready for school. The event includes free backpacks while supplies last, as well as physical exams by Physical Solutions and haircuts by Superior Blendz Hawaiʻi. There will also be food and activities including chances to: build a terrarium with YOAS, a 3D printing workshop with Simply 3D Hawaiʻi, a lawai’a exhibit on traditional Native Hawaiian fishing hosted by Institute for Native Pacific Education And Culture, a fresh flower bar hosted by The Happy Haku, a painting workshop from Paint for Your Soul and a Butterfly Dome hosted by Paradise Monarchs. There will also be food by Da Bald Guy, Frank's Franks, Local Poke Bowl, Kababa Mama, The Munchie Machine, Sweet Revenge, Aloha Sweet, Sama Sama Tea, Seki Slush, Dipped by Dee and more. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Child & Family Service at 91-1841 Fort Weaver Road in Ewa Beach. Registration has closed, but there is space for up to 100 walk-ups.  

Christmas in July at Wet ʻnʻ Wild. Join Santa and friends for a festive celebration that includes a photo with Santa and his tropical crew, including Mr. Snowman plus a reindeer, penguin and polar bear. There will be showings of “Elf” at noon and 5 p.m. as the featured DiveʻnʻMovie. In the afternoon, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. keiki and adults can enjoy a Winter Wonderland foam pit. The park will be open for extended hours from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. for this event. Donate school supplies valued at $30 or more (with proof of purchase) and get one free keiki ticket to the park. Most-needed items include pencils, pens, Sharpies, crayons, colored pencils, highlighters, composition notebooks, rulers, blunt point scissors, glue, Scotch tape, backpacks and flip-flops. Donations will go to the Education for Homeless Children and Youth in the Wai‘anae Complex Department of Education.

Keiki Sunday. Sea Life Park is hosting Manō Week Festival, which focuses on sharks, from July 21 to July 27. Enjoy shark-themed crafts and games, guest speakers, booths hosted by nonprofits, take-home arts and crafts, and activities. There will also be photo opportunities featuring shark-themed hats and tattoos. The park is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admission for keiki three years old or younger is free. Sea Life Park will offer free keiki admission (4 years old to 12 years old) with the purchase of an adult ticket on Sunday July 27. Adult tickets with kamaʻāina discount are $49.99, if purchased online. Details.
