Everyone’s looking to save money and get the most bang for their buck. This series will show you where you can save while still savoring a good meal.

A $1.99 latte sounds too good to be true — specialty coffees can cost around $7 nowadays — but this Thirsty Thursday deal at Fresh Bites Café is already a hit with customers.

The café launched this special about a week ago. All coffees and teas (with the exception of matcha lattes) are $1.99 each. The offer is valid for both dine-in and takeout during the café’s hours on Thursday only.

Considering that lattes range from $4.95 (hot) to $6.95 (iced drinks), this is a deal. Popular lattes include the macadamia nut latte ($5.95 regular price) and vanilla latte ($5.95 regular price); the former features a delightfully nutty flavor and creamy texture. The coffee deal is limited to two per customer.

The café also started a Matcha Mondays special, in which all hot or iced matcha lattes are $2.99 (regular price $5.95). Similar to the Thirsty Thursday special, the discounted matcha lattes are valid for both dine-in and takeout orders during the café’s hours on Monday only; limit two per person.

This offer is valid for walk-in orders only (no online orders or calls will be accepted).

If you’re dining at the café, Fresh Bites offers a huge menu of sweet and savory dishes. The mochi waffle eggs Benedicts are always popular — choose from proteins like beef sukiyaki ($17.95), Hawaiian kalua pork ($16.95), smoked salmon ($17.95) and Portuguese sausage ($16.95).

The smoked salmon with avocado breakfast toast ($15.95) — served on sourdough toast with a side salad — and mochi waffle sandwiches ($13.95-$15.95) are also customer favorites.

The café is also offering discounted mochi waffles as a dine-in special for August. All mochi waffles are $10 (regular price $13.95) and come with whipped cream and assorted fruits. Three flavors are available — matcha, chocolate or classic — and the waffles are crispy on the outside and boast a slightly chewy interior.
