Doraku Sushi might be popular for its happy hour, but each restaurant location features unique offers.
The eatery’s Kakaʻako location recently launched new donburi, which are available during both lunch and dinner. However, if you dine in during lunch, you can score discounts on the donburi.

Customers can take advantage of a limited-time discount on all three bowls. The offer is valid from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays to Thursday at Doraku Sushi Kakaʻako only. The donburi discount ends on Sept. 30.
All donburi are served with pieces of nori so customers can create their own mini handrolls with the sushi rice and toppings.

This spicy lobster donburi is the ideal surf and turf option. It features seared rib-eye and spicy lobster with garlic aioli, green onions, itogaki and ponzu with nori and sushi rice. There’s a generous amount of lobster meat, so you can rest assured that you’re getting your money’s worth.

If you’re craving something meaty, this bowl should do the trick. It features rib-eye with an onsen egg, crispy onions, housemade furikake and garlic onion ponzu over sushi rice with nori. The crispy onions deliver a nice crunch, which offsets the creamy, eggy texture nicely.

Of the three donburi, this one is my favorite. It features otoro (tuna belly) with negi, takuan and shiso, is topped with zuke-marinated ikura, and is served with sushi rice and nori. The ikura add refreshing pops of savory flavor, and the otoro boasts a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Be sure to save some rice toward the end of your meal. Your server will give you the eatery’s dashi so you can create your own ochazuke (a simple Japanese dish that features hot tea poured over cooked rice). It’s a comforting end to a savory meal — and a nice way to enjoy the leftover rice.
