Taylor Swift announced her twelfth studio album “The Life of a Showgirl” with boyfriend Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, and his brother Jason Kelce on their “New Heights” show on Aug. 12.
In Swift’s reveal video, the cover of the new album is blurred but reveals these colors: mint green and orange. Swifties around the world took to social media to process the news.
So did local brands, including Zippy’s Restaurants, which took the orange theme to its own social media accounts and highlighted popular food orders before adding the words: “We call this The Life of a Zipster.”
International brands also joined in the conversation, including Starbucks, Petco, Betty Crocker and Sharpie. Even Google got in on the fun and is currently dropping orange and gold confetti if you search the words: Taylor Swift.
We pulled together a short list of some of the local brands celebrating Swift’s new album with social media posts:
1. Zippy’s Restaurants.
2. OluKai.
3. Honolulu Magazine.
Swift has more than 83.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify. She is among the top 10 artists in the world, according to Spotify. To date, she has won 14 Grammy Awards. She is one of the world’s best selling musical artists with a record seven albums surpassing a million sales in the first week of their release, according to the Grammy Awards’ website. Some of her popular albums include “Fearless,” “1989,” “Reputation,” “Folklore,” and “Midnights.”
Swift is known for leaving Easter eggs in her songs, which hint to future productions. She recently discussed this process of engaging with fans with talk show host Jimmy Fallon.
“When I started to realize that it wasn't just me that had fun with this — that they had fun with it too — I should never have learned that. Because then I couldn't stop,” she told Fallon. “All I started thinking of was: How do I hint at things? How far is too far in advance? Can I hint at something three years in advance? Can I even plan things out that far?”
Presales for “The Life of a Showgirl” have started. Vinyl is $29.99, a cassette is $19.99 and a CD is $12.99. Details.
