Inferno’s Pizza has a new spot in Waikīkī

The business, known for its late-night hours and Neapolitan-style pizzas, used to operate out of a food truck on Kapiolani Boulevard. Now, the biz opened in Ohana Hale Waikīkī with its signature savory pies and Detroit-style pizzas.

Inferno’s Pizza business owner Kyle Okumoto has been serving Neapolitan-style pizzas since 2010. Inferno’s Pizza used to operate out of a food truck on Kapiolani Boulevard, and was known for its wood-fired pies and late-night hours.

Now, Inferno’s has a new home — as one of the vendors in Ohana Hale Waikīkī.

The business’s menu is mostly unchanged at the Waikīkī location, but there are some new additions. The biz still specializes in Neapolitan-style pizzas, which are around 12 to 13 inches. Choose from options like Supreme ($28), truffle ($25), barbecue chicken ($25), white garlic ($20) and veggie ($25).

“Right now, Supreme is the bestseller,” Okumoto says. “Well, Supreme and pepperoni; everybody just likes pepperoni.”

Supreme pizzas are loaded with spinach, mushrooms, pepperoni, onions, tomatoes, olives, sausage and garlic. The pizza with egg ($28) — topped with mushrooms, onions, soppressata, truffle oil, garlic and an egg yolk — is another popular option. The egg yolk drizzle, which is added last, gives the pizza an added depth and enhances its umami flavor.

Customers also have the option to build their own pizzas (prices vary) with an assortment of toppings, ranging from bacon ($3), salami ($3) and kalua pig ($5) to hot honey ($3) and truffle oil ($3). Only cheese ($6) and pepperoni pizzas ($7.50) are currently available by the slice.

The Detroit-style pizzas are newer additions to the menu; they’re available in limited quantities. They feature a thicker crust, rectangular shape and crispy, cheesy edges.

Customers can choose from cheese ($22), white garlic ($23), pepperoni ($25), pepperoni sausage ($26) or veggie ($27). Pepperoni is a staple — it comes with a generous amount of toppings — but cheese lovers will adore the Detroit-style cheese, which comes with Muenster, a provolone-cheddar blend and mozzarella cheeses. No matter which flavor you choose, though, you can expect this pizza to have gloriously crispy, cheesy edges.

“The mozzarella goes on the sides (of the pizza crust),” Okumoto says. “That builds the crispy edge.”

The biz also offers baked potatoes ($8) and chili hot dogs ($12). The latter features a thick, hearty homemade chili.
