University of Hawai‘i women's volleyball junior Tali Hakas will miss the remainder of the 2025 season with a right shoulder injury, the program announced on Thursday evening.

"Tali Hakas will sit out the remainder of the 2025 season due to a right shoulder injury," UH's release read in part. "Tali will continue to focus on supporting her teammates throughout the season."

Hakas, a native of Kfar Saba, Israel, appeared in 17 matches for the Rainbow Wahine as a freshman in 2023, earning Big West Conference All-Freshman honors. She became a full-time starter in 2024, starting all 31 matches for the 'Bows. Her 259 kills were third among the Rainbow Wahine and also landed her a spot on the Big West All-Conference Honorable Mention list.

Hakas started the first three matches of the season for the Rainbow Wahine at outside hitter before sitting out. The Rainbow Wahine are currently 4-5, defeating Portland in five sets on Thursday night. The 'Bows and Pilots play each other again on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

On Thursday night, Hakas acknowledged the season-ending injury on her personal Instagram account, announcing that she will undergo shoulder surgery.

"If I want to be honest and open, I’ll go ahead and share with you all that I’ll soon be undergoing shoulder surgery, and while this is definitely one of the hardest decisions I had to make, I feel nothing but gratitude for the incredible support around me," Hakas said. "To my family, friends, and everyone who has checked in on me — I can’t thank you enough for your love and encouragement. To my teammates, thank you for standing by my side, for your empathy, and for showing me so much love; I’ll still be sitting right next to you, to cheer, scream and celebrate together."
