Rick Hamada is spot on in his Op-Ed column, Fixing What's Wrong with America.

It looks to me like the further America gets from its Ten Commandments culture, the worse off we get as a country. And the closer we get to a dreaded civil war. Though you could argue we're already fighting a civil war, just not on a battlefield but on the internet.

I wholeheartedly agree with his statement, "If we embraced and did our collective best to follow these directives, we ideally would emerge as better individuals, families, communities and a country."

Even if you don't believe in God, how can you argue against these 10 basic rules for living? The last 7 of the commandments are universal.

Now is the time for our elected officials to do their job and lead. Cast a vision. Unite our people behind the grand idea that the United States of America is THE greatest country in the world.

We can be better. We need to be our best.
