Totoya Hawaiʻi — with locations in Kaimukī and in the Ala Moana neighborhood — is popular for its kaisen don, or seafood-centric bowls that feature negitoro. Both locations are launching new specials starting this Saturday.

The maguro lovers bowl ($29.95) can be found at the eatery’s location on Piʻikoi Street. We were told this special was previously featured at the original Kaimukī location earlier this spring, and it’s back by popular demand.
It includes fresh pieces of maguro marinated in the eatery’s original housemade soy sauce. It’s served on a bed of rice with Totoya’s original negitoro, which includes minced tuna, scallops, cucumbers, green onions and tobiko. It’s topped with an egg — designed to mix into the negitoro to enhance its umami flavor — and includes wasabi on the side.

The Kaimukī location will feature the hamachi lovers bowl ($26.50). It features seven pieces of hamachi marinated in the eatery’s original sesame miso sauce. It’s topped with an egg, green onions and sesame seeds.
Ten of each bowl will be made per day.

Both bowls include miso soup, but you can upgrade to a more luxe option for an additional charge. Choose from Asari clam ($3.90), crab ($4.90) or shrimp head miso soup ($3.90).
