You can get ichigo (strawberry) daifuku at Don Quijote for a limited time.

Business owner Haruyuki Asakawa of Itoshima Dango from Fukuoka, Japan is doing special mochi-making demonstrations at Don Quijote’s Kaheka and Kapolei stores. You can watch him from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Don Quijote Kaheka from now to Oct. 19 and at Don Quijote Kapolei from Oct. 21 to Nov. 19.
Asakawa was at Marukai Hawaiʻi this past weekend to make specialty warabi mochi.

We’re told Asakawa comes to Marukai twice a year to do these mochi demonstrations. Customers can watch him prepare warabi mochi in kinako and matcha flavors at Don Quijote.
Warabi mochi is known for its soft, delicate texture and is often dusted with kinako, or roasted soybean powder.

Asakawa says it takes about 30 minutes to make the warabi mochi, and another hour for it to cool. One batch makes about 25 packages (which contain seven to eight pieces of warabi mochi).
At Marukai Hawaiʻi, dango sticks and ichigo daifuku are also available for purchase, while supplies last. There is also a daifuku set ($9.99) with red bean fillings in various flavors (matcha, strawberry and coffee).
