Located in 808 Center, locally owned Margaritas Hawaiʻi recently updated its menu. Its food menu is now streamlined, focusing on the eatery’s most popular dishes. Customers can also now take advantage of $10 margaritas every day the restaurant is open.

Margaritas are available in a variety of flavors, ranging from pink guava, pineapple and lilikoʻi to dragonfruit, li hing and calamansi. Lilikoʻi is the most popular flavor, but if you’re looking for a unique option, go for calamansi.
Mocktail versions ($8) are also available.

Popular appetizers include made-to-order guacamole and chips ($10) and nachos ($17). The guacamole is especially creamy and flavorful. We’re told the guacamole is smashed to order (not pre-mashed) and made with pico, lime and salt. The chips are also made fresh to ensure its crispy texture.
Meanwhile, the nachos are a must if you’re dining with a group. The crispy chips are loaded with pinto beans, melted queso, pico and cilantro. Additional toppings like sour cream ($1), jalapenos ($1) and chipotle chicken ($4) are available for an extra charge.

The eatery’s Chipotle chicken birria tacos ($16) are one of its most popular dishes. While many restaurants feature beef birria, the restaurant opted for chicken to be different. The consommé is like a spicy chicken broth with a slow-building heat.

A la carte tacos include Baja fish ($7), steak ($9) and Dorado ($6). Tacos are sold individually, but feature a generous portion size.
The Baja fish features beer-battered mahi mahi with cabbage, chipotle crema and pico in a flour tortilla. The crispy fish was fried to a delectable crisp, and of the tacos we tried, it was our favorite.
The Dorado ($6) is vegetarian-friendly, as it’s a crispy corn tortilla filled with potato, cheese, chipotle crema and pico de gallo.

If you want something heartier, opt for the Chipotle chicken ($18) or steak ($22) burrito. The ingredients are similar; both burritos are stuffed with Spanish rice, pinto beans, cheese, pico and sour cream.

For dessert, the eatery’s churros ($7) come highly recommended. One order features six pieces, served with chocolate sauce for dipping. Served warm and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, the churros were slightly crispy on the outside and spongy inside. They weren’t overly sweet in and of themselves, but the chocolate sauce enhanced their decadence.
The eatery also offers Taco Tuesday deals. Enjoy $1 off tacos and $5 Mi Campo shots on Tuesdays. Happy hour is also daily; discounts include $6 draft beers and $5 Mi Campo shots.
