As stores are starting to release their limited holiday lines, Starbucks is no different.

During the launch preview, Starbucks gave fans an inside look on what was coming to nearby franchises. The typical holiday motifs were present on various types of cups. A few items however, stood out and took the internet by storm.

For all the Sanrio lovers, there was the Hello Kitty and Starbucks collaboration. This line featured a clear plastic cold cup, a stainless-steel tumbler, plushie, mugs and more.

Then there was the glass “bearista” cup ($29.95).

People across all social platforms were talking about the bear and expressing how much they needed it. Special Starbucks Facebook groups were planning when and where they would meet up to ensure one would fall into possession.

So, we got in line, too.

The Starbucks store near us opened at 3:30 a.m. on launch day, Nov. 6, which meant we started a line at 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 5. We were absolutely going to get the glass “bearista” cup, right?

As it got closer to opening, about 30 people were waiting in line outside of the store. Because we were first, there was a pretty good chance of obtaining the coveted cup.

But, as soon as the doors opened, it was like a war had just started. Everyone started running and pushing each other, just to get this cup.

There were only four in stock. You could imagine how crazy it was to get one of them. Thankfully, no fights broke out – and it felt like that was a real possibility. Unfortunately, we were not among the lucky few to score the glass “bearista” cup. I guess we were too slow or not aggressive enough.

We did, however, obtain a few items from the Hello Kitty and Starbucks collaboration so, I wouldn’t say this morning’s mission was a loss.

If you would like to purchase a glass “bearista” cup at resale value, prepare to spend. Sellers on eBay are already listing them for $200 to $400 a piece.

If you like the bear look but don’t care about the brand, you could get a dupe on Amazon for about $32.
