Kanoya Sushi Grill & Bar, located on Kapi‘olani Boulevard, is known for its extensive sushi roll selection and shareable appetizers. The restaurant recently launched a new happy hour menu.

The menu features discounts on some of the restaurant’s most popular appetizers, along with beverage specials. Happy hour is available daily from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and from 9:30 p.m. until restaurant closing. The eatery closes at 11 p.m. on weekdays and at midnight on weekends (Fridays and Saturdays).

The dinosaur egg ($10) is one of Kanoya’s most popular dishes. It comprises spicy tuna and spicy kani (crab) inside half an avocado that’s been deep-fried and topped with unagi sauce, spicy mayo and masago.

The sashimi symphony ($10) features six pieces of assorted sashimi. During our visit, it included ‘ahi, salmon and hamachi.

The tuna tataki ($10) and beef tataki ($10) are ideal if you’re looking for dishes with some spice. The seared tuna is thinly sliced and topped with tobiko and scallions.

The furikake chicken ($10) is the restaurant’s twist on chicken karaage. It features deep-fried chicken thighs topped with a sesame-seaweed based seasoning and a sauce made with condensed coconut milk, resulting in a balanced, salty-sweet flavor.

The happy hour menu features a variety of fried dishes, ranging from calamari ($10) and tako ($10) to seafood and vegetable tempura ($10) and house spring rolls ($10). The latter features housemade chicken and vegetable spring rolls served with a house sauce for dipping.

Kanoya’s beer bundle is one of the best deals on the happy hour menu. It features three beers for $9.99; choose from Sapporo or Kirin.
Customers can also take advantage of a sushi roll and beer bundle — one roll and one beer — for $15.99.
