“Ready, set … scrap!”

Kitchen Scraps,” a cooking competition show on Hawaiʻi News Now, features a challenge between two chefs as they “scrap it out” for culinary glory.

The show’s next episode airs at 8 p.m. on Nov. 27 (Thanksgiving) on Hawaiʻi News Now. This episode features a showdown between Sumida Farm’s Chris Fujimoto and Elijah Madayag. The show is hosted by Kainoa Carlson, and usually includes celebrity judges. The upcoming episode features chef Ippy Aiona — who recently released a new memoir and cookbook called Growing Up Hapa in Hawaiʻi — and myself.

Each episode features two rounds of cooking, highlighting local ingredients — and a mystery ingredient.

The chefs battle to win a Japanese steel knife set and custom Koa cutting board — and of course, bragging rights as “Kitchen Scraps” champion.
