Shop for the holidays, run a marathon or listen to live music. Looking for fun things to do? Aloha State Daily rounded up this list of upcoming events happening Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

FRIDAY, DEC. 12

“The Nutcracker.” Ballet Hawaiʻi will perform “The Nutcracker” — with an Island twist that includes nēnē, geckos, sea turtles and Mauna Kea — at Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall on Friday, Dec. 12, Saturday, Dec. 13, and Sunday, Dec. 14. Learn how the show captured the imagination of Aria Kaneshige, who performs in the show and is the teacher of an introductory class for beginning ballet dancers. SATURDAY, DEC. 13

Mele Kalikimaka Marketplace. Find gifts for the ʻohana, including nearly 300 booths showcasing crafts, food, apparel and more at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall on Saturday, Dec. 13, and Sunday, Dec. 14. General admission is $7. Military and seniors with ID can enter for $5. Admission for keiki ages 12 and younger is free. Details.

Christmas on the Avenue. This festive street party takes place on Nānākuli Avenue between Mano Avenue and Piliaʻau Avenue and includes about 80 vendors, free gifts for keiki, a resource fair and live performances. There will also be opportunities to play games and take photos with Santa. The event, which starts at 4 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m., is expected to draw at least 10,000 people. Free. Details. SUNDAY, DEC. 14

Honolulu Marathon. The Honolulu Marathon, which covers 26.2 scenic miles between Chinatown and Hawaiʻi Kai, will take place on Sunday, Dec. 14. Cheer on runners and avoid the roads from Chinatown to Hawaiʻi Kai if you don’t want to get stuck in traffic. There is no time limit for finishers. This year, there are about 40,000 registered runners, as previously reported by Hawaiʻi News Now. Aloha State Daily will publish a list of budget spots to fuel up on carbs tomorrow, so be sure to check the daily edition. Free to spectate. Details.

“Hawaiʻi to the World.” Catch the finale of this televised talent competition launched by Hawaiian Council. Five acts from four islands will take the stage in the finale, which airs this Sunday, Dec. 14. The winner of the talent competition takes home a $10,000 cash prize. The fan favorite will also receive cash. "Hawaiʻi to the World" is aired by Hawaiʻi News Now and simulcast on K5 and KHNL, following Sunday Night Football. Details.
