Looking for something to do that might fill the lull between Christmas and New Year's? Aloha State Daily has rounded up a few things to do this weekend.
Friday, Dec. 26
ʻTwas the Light Before Christmas on Ice. Check out this immersive winter wonderland through Jan. 4 at the Hawai‘i Convention Center. Open 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 10 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Last tickets are sold an hour before closing. The event includes an indoor ice-skating rink, as well as dazzling lights and holiday decor. Tickets cost about $30 per adult and $20 per child (for non-skating tickets) or around $40 per adult and $25 per child (includes skating). Senior, military and VIP tickets are also available. Holiday pop-ups. You can still grab a cup of holiday cheer at several themed pop-ups. The Grinchmas Bar is open at Aloha Mamacita, along with Makana at ‘Alohilani Resort Waikīkī Beach, The Christmas Bar Hawai‘i at Tiki’s Grill & Bar, Yules Truly, and several other holiday-themed pop-up bars. PJs and brunch. Catch the Surfing Pig Hawai‘i’s Pajama Jammy-Jam Brunch Dec. 26 to 28 (and again Jan. 1 to 4), serving up “cozy vibes, brunch favorites and $5 mimosas for all guests in PJs.” The restaurant is located at 3605 Wai‘alae Ave. in Kaimukī. Saturday, Dec. 27
Comedy show. Catch Island Magic Mike — North Shore born-and-raised comedian Mike Garcia — at 7p.m. at the Hawai‘i Theatre Center. Find tickets here.
Music festival. The Wayfind Music Festival: Re-Centering Kānaka Voices and Redefining Hawai‘i’s Sound is set to run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Capitol Modern in Downtown Honolulu. The free event is being presented by Lō‘ihi Records. Get free tickets here.
Sunday, Dec. 28
Comedy show. Comedian Tumua Tuinei, who was born and raised on O‘ahu, brings his Chee Hoo Tour to Honolulu, with a second show added at the Blaisdell Arena. Part of his Chee Hoo Tour, the show starts at 7 p.m. Sunday. You can also catch him at the Blaisdell on Dec. 27. Find tickets for both here.
Concert. Thunderstorm Artis, a singer-songwriter with North Shore roots who was a contender on both The Voice and American Idol, returns to Blue Note Hawai‘i for shows at 6:30 and 9 p.m. Find tickets here.
