Ready to plan the weekend? February is Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, or Hawaiian Language Month. Aloha State Daily has gathered a list of events to entertain the entire ʻohana, including a free screening of “Moana 2” in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi and live music from Kimié Miner, who just released her first mele Hawaiʻi written entirely in the Hawaiian language.
Friday, Feb. 6
Live music with Kimié Miner. The Grammy nominated singer and songwriter Kimié Miner will be performing live from 6 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the ‘Alohilani Resort Waikīkī Beach. She will be sharing songs from her new extended play, “Ku’u Hawai’i,” which includes her first mele Hawaiʻi, or song written entirely in the Hawaiian language. In 2018, she won Nā Hōkū Hanohano awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Bamboo.” Details.
Saturday, Feb. 7
Ke Nui Fest 2.0. Enjoy live music from Kolohe Kai, known for his song “What Aloha Means”; Landon McNamara, the singer and songwriter who is also the winner of the most recent Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational; Kanaka Fyah, a popular reggae band from Hawaiʻi Island; Ron Artis II, an artist with roots in Hale’iwa; and Music & Rhythm, Bruno Mars’ nephews, who just did a song for Disney’s live action “Lilo & Stitch". The event also features the popular comedian Island Magic Mike and Ring of Fire, a group which performs hula, as well as Tahitian and fire knife dancing. The event starts at 2 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m. Tickets start at about $50. Details.

Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival. Want to see cherry blossoms? Head to Hawai’i Island. The 33rd Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival includes hands-on multicultural activities and performances. The festival starts at 9 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. The 2026 festival honors long-time Waimea residents Fred and Nancy Nonaka. Fred has planted and cared for many of the Church Row Park cherry trees and Nancy has helped set up cultural demonstrations and hands-on activities, which are part of the festival offered at Kamuela Hongwanji Mission, adjacent to Church Row Park. “Moana 2.” The animated Disney movie “Moana 2” will be screened in ‘Ōlelo Hawaiʻi on the Great Lawn of the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum. The landmark film features Hawaiian language speakers from across the Islands, including Auli’i Cravalho and Kaʻikena Scanlan. Doors open at 4 p.m. and the movie starts at 6 p.m. Parking is free, but limited. Food is available for purchase on site. Lawn chairs are allowed, but coolers and outside beverages are prohibited. Free. Details.
Sunday, Feb. 8
Super Bowl Sunday. The Seattle Seahawks will play the New England Patriots. The halftime show stars Bad Bunny, a six-time Grammy Award winner, who recently made history by winning Album of the Year for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” at the 68th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 1. In the album, Bad Bunny includes a song about Hawaiʻi. Reporter Kelli Shiroma Braiotta shares tips for where to watch the game — and eat!
