For just the sixth time in program history, the University of Hawai‘i men's basketball team is set to compete in the NCAA Tournament.
The Rainbow Warriors punched their ticket by defeating UC Irvine 71-64 in Saturday's Big West Conference championship game. Hawai‘i (24-8), the 13 seed in the West Region, will take on Arkansas (26-8). The Razorbacks, who won the SEC tournament on Sunday, are the 4 seed in the West.
Tipoff is set for 10:25 a.m. HST on Thursday, the first full day of the tournament. The game will also be televised nationally on TBS.
Other University of Hawai‘i sports
In other University of Hawai‘i contests, the water polo team will host USC on Wednesday and CSUN on Friday at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. Both contests will begin at 6 p.m.
The No. 3 University of Hawai‘i men's volleyball team will travel to No. 2 Long Beach State for road matches on Friday and Saturday. Both begin at 4 p.m. HST.
The UH beach volleyball team will play in the Big West Challenge in Long Beach, Calif., from March 20 to 22, where it will play six matches in three days.
Meanwhile, the UH baseball team will play a conference road series at UC Santa Barbara from Friday to Sunday, while the softball team has a road series at Long Beach State on Friday and Saturday.
PacWest sports
Hawai‘i Pacific's baseball teams will host Menlo for doubleheaders on Wednesday and Thursday. Both start at 2 p.m. at Hans L'Orange Park. Meanwhile, Hawai‘i Pacific's softball teams will have road doubleheaders at Biola on Monday and Tuesday, followed by twin bills at Azusa Pacific on Friday and Saturday.
Chaminade's softball teams will play doubleheaders at Azusa Pacific on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by doubleheaders at Concordia Irvine on Friday and Saturday. CUH's baseball teams will play a doubleheader on Monday against Menlo, followed by doubleheaders against Westmont on Thursday and Friday at 2 p.m. All games will take place at Les Murakami Stadium.
Hawai‘i-Hilo's baseball team has a doubleheader at Azusa Pacific on Monday, followed by doubleheaders at Fresno Pacific on Saturday and Sunday. UH-Hilo's softball teams will play doubleheaders at Concordia on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as at Vanguard on Friday and Saturday.
