From now until Sunday, April 5, all three E.A.R.L. Hawaiʻi stores in Kaimukī, Kakaʻako, and Kapolei will be giving away three bronze, silver and golden tickets (nine tickets total). Customers have the opportunity to win when they order to dine-in or pick-up in person (the ticket promo is not applicable to delivery orders).
E.A.R.L. Hawaiʻi owner Justin Parvizimotlagh credits his daughter for the business’s current golden ticket promo idea.
“My daughter is really into Willy Wonka,” he says. “She watches all the different iterations of Willy Wonka — the original one, the Johnny Depp one and the Timothe Chalamet one; we talk about it all the time.
“I said, ‘Hey, we’re going to do a contest; what type of contest should we do?’” he says. “She said, ‘We should do a Willy Wonka contest — we should give out a golden ticket.’”
Bronze and silver ticket winners will receive $50 gift card prizes and goodie bags. Golden ticket winners will receive a one-month sandwich pass — eligible for one free sandwich per day for the month of April — an E.A.R.L. Hawaiʻi swag goodie bag, and the opportunity to create a special.
Speaking of specials, E.A.R.L. Hawaiʻi is currently featuring a kalbi cheesesteak special ($17.95). It includes marinated kalbi, onions, sweet peppers, garlic butter, a Parm blend, Cooper sharp cheese, green chilis and Korean barbecue sauce. This fusion-inspired special was featured last week, and it did so well that E.A.R.L. Hawaiʻi brought it back this week.
“We are trying to mess around with some fusion a little bit more,” Parvizimotlagh says. “Last year, we were locked into East Coast (flavors) only. We messed around with a kalbi cheesesteak last week, and it went really well, so we were like, let’s keep that fusion rolling and get back to those unique, cool creations that we used to make back in the day.”
From Thursday to Sunday, the business is debuting a brand-new special. The honey walnut hero ($17.95) will include honey walnut shrimp on a semolina baguette, according to Parvizimotlagh.
“It’s like if you had honey walnut shrimp and mashed that up with a po’boy,” he says.
