The "Sunset on the Beach" movie series has returned to Queen’s Beach on the Diamond Head side of Waikīkī. The free, family-friendly events will screen five films this summer. The series started with a screening of “Zootopia 2” on May 30.

The program is provided through a partnership between the City and County of Honolulu, the Waikīkī Improvement Association and Southwest Airlines.

Before each screening, there are opportunities for games, activities and photos. Food and drinks are also available for purchase. Coca-Cola will provide Coke ice cream floats.

Seating is first-come, first-served, and families are encouraged to bring beach towels, chairs or hammocks.

At each screening, Southwest Airlines will make a donation and recognize a local nonprofit. This year, the featured nonprofits are: March of Dimes Hawaiʻi, Make-A-Wish Hawaiʻi, Chaminade University Athletics, Hawaiʻi Foodbank, and the Hawaiʻi High School Athletics Association.

One of the films, “A Minecraft Movie,” stars Jason Momoa, who was born in Honolulu. These films are scheduled for July, August and September:
