A special Okinawan soba will be available at The Kāhala Hotel & Resort for a limited time.
Chef Eibun Nakamura, known for his specialty soba, is bringing his Okinawa soba to the resort’s Plumeria Beach House from Aug. 13 to 16. During the four-day pop-up, Nakamura will team up with Sun Noodle to serve his innovative soba.
The soba will be available during lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on all four days. It will also be available as part of Plumeria Beach House’s seafood dinner buffet on Aug. 14 and 15 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
The restaurant will also feature Okinawan sweets and Orion beer.

Nakamura, who was born in Yamada Town, Iwate prefecture in Japan, graduated from culinary school in Iwate and then moved to Tokyo to train at a French restaurant. He eventually relocated to Okinawa; while working as a chef at a resort hotel, he spent his free time visiting various soba shops throughout Okinawa. Nakamura’s previous culinary experience includes working at Nakamura Soba in Onna Village and Shikina Soba in Naha City.
He opened his own specialty Okinawa soba restaurant called Okinawa Soba Eibun in April 2016. The restaurant’s menu honors the traditional foundations of Okinawan soba while incorporating creative twists.
Nakamura’s Okinawa soba is known for its broth, which is made by slowly simmering pork bones over low heat for eight hours. It’s combined with ichiban dashi — an aromatic stock — to create a flavorful broth.
