Starting on Friday, Sept. 4, Don Quijote Kāheka will be offering $9.99 mega-sized chicken katsu plates every Friday in September. The deal will be available every Friday starting at 3 p.m. until sold out.
This is the first time Don Quijote Kāheka is featuring this deal; Marukai Hawaiʻi’s $9.99 plates on Wednesdays have been successful, according to delicatessen department manager Kota Kawahara.
“I did tonkatsu and hamburger steak at Marukai, so I wanted to do something different here,” he says.

The chicken katsu plates will be sold by the store’s bento section. A limited number of plates will be made every Friday; limit is three plates per customer, according to Kawahara.
Plates include the chicken katsu, rice and cabbage salad.
“We don’t cut the katsu too thin,” Kawahara says. “I chose chicken breast because it’s more healthy and there isn’t too much fat. After it’s fried, we cut it. Each plate is around 1 pound after the chicken is cooked.”

We’re told that, similar to Marukai Hawaiʻi, Don Quijote Kāheka will probably continue this $9.99 deal, but will feature a different entrée each month.
