West Emperor opened last December at Embassy Suites Kapolei. The eatery closed its location at the end of March and just opened at Kapolei Commons, in the former space of La Tour Cafe.
The restaurant still offers dim sum and wagyu specialty dishes, but the eatery has expanded its menu, according to owner Victor Jian.
“We now offer Japanese-Chinese fusion,” he says. “We still have more Chinese dishes — we are using the wok and Chinese cooking styles — but we are using Japanese ingredients and seasoning.”
Customers can still find dim sum favorites, including shrimp and pork hash ($6.85), har gow ($7.75), barbecue pork manapua ($10.75) and lotus sticky rice ($8.75). Meanwhile, wagyu specialty dishes range from wagyu manapua ($15.75) and wagyu meat balls ($19.50) to wagyu wontons and noodles ($32.25) and wagyu chow funn ($28.50).
The restaurant’s expanded menu now features soups, wok-fried vegetables, meat and seafood entrees, and chef specials. Options include garlic shrimp ($24.50), roast duck ($29.25), char siu fried rice ($21.25) and steamed salmon with ginger and onions ($23.75), to name a few.
“We have a catering menu as well,” Jian says, noting that the restaurant’s catering menu features popular party picks like salt and pepper shrimp, wagyu fried rice, cold ginger chicken and more.
The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and 5 to 9 p.m. for dinner Mondays to Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the weekends.
