Lumpia, pork sisig fries, and Halo-Halo sundaes are on the menu at Consolidated Theatres this week to accompany the launch of the movie “Forgotten Island,” on Friday, Sept. 25.
The special menu, which runs through Oct. 4 — or while supplies last — is inspired by the movie’s Filipino roots. “Forgotten Island,” produced by DreamWorks, shares the story of Jo and Raissa, high school graduates and best friends who are about to embark on different life paths, when a magical portal suddenly transports them to the island of Nakali.
"ʻForgotten Islandʻ is deeply rooted in Filipino culture, folklore and mythology, so we decided to create a special menu that reflects the film," said Adrienne Ishizu Arguelles, the food and beverage manager for Consolidated Theatres, in a written statement to Aloha State Daily. "Inspired by bold Filipino flavors and beloved dishes, the menu celebrates Filipino culture while enhancing the moviegoing experience for audiences young and old. Food can trigger memories, adding to the nostalgia that many will feel while seeing and hearing stories, voices and experiences from their childhood on the big screen."
The 109-minute movie is currently ranked No. 16 on the list of most popular movies, as determined by IMDb users.
The special menu includes fried lumpia, available at Kāhala, Mililani, ʻŌlino and Ward locations; pork sisig fries available at Kāhala, Mililani and ʻŌlino; and the Halo-Halo Sundae with ube ice cream, popping boba, condensed milk, mango and more, available at all locations. Details.
