Green Island Cheesecake opened last month on North Hotel Street. The business specializes in fluffy, Japanese souffle cheesecake and Portuguese tarts. The desserts are baked in house daily.

The signature cheesecake — the “original” flavor — is the bestseller. Light and fluffy but not overly sweet, it’s sure to satisfy any dessert craving without giving you the feeling of sugar overload.

Ube souffle cheesecakes are also popular, partly because of the lavender hue but also because of the noticeable ube flavor.

Berlin cheesecakes ($5.99) look similar to the original flavor, but they’re a little heavier and more dense.

If you’re looking for more of a bite-sized treat, go for the Portuguese custard tarts. They’re flaky on the outside with a luscious, smooth custard filling.
