The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum has opened pre-registration for free tickets over the Labor Day weekend for Hawaiʻi residents and active military to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
A limited number of complimentary tickets will be released for Aug. 30 through Sept. 1 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. according to the nonprofit museum.
“This special day serves as a tribute to the strength and sacrifice of American service members and workers who participated in our nation’s war effort,” said Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum Executive Director Andrew “Homer” Ring. “Join us as we honor this historic milestone and celebrate the spirit of freedom and resilience that defines our nation."

Ring has led the nonprofit museum since May 2, overseeing its $10 million budget and 35 full-time staff members. He succeeded Chuck Merkel, who retired having served in the role for nine years.
The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum highlights the history of the U.S. Navy’s submarine force through new interactive and traditional exhibits for all ages.

The museum also features tours aboard the USS Bowfin. The fleet submarine completed a total of nine Pacific patrols between 1943 and 1945 and was later donated to the Pacific Fleet Submarine Memorial Association in 1979. It was opened to the public in April 1981.
Last year, The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum welcomed more than 11 million visitors since opening in 1981. In 2025, new leadership expects to grow its exhibits showcasing WWII, the Cold War and the modern world.
For this promotional Labor Day sale, up to six pre-registered tickets per party will be allowed. All adult ticket holder must present a valid Hawaiʻi or military ID at museum entry.
