FRIDAY, JAN. 23
Catch Led Kaapana. The legendary slack key guitarist will be performing at Beastside Kitchen in East Oʻahu. The Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning slack key guitarist was recently the opening act of the Maui Music & Food Experience, a benefit to help Lahaina rebuild. Kaapana spoke with Aloha State Daily in August about growing up on Hawaiʻi Island and his launch to fame. Details.
Listen to The Green at the Blue Note Hawaiʻi. Catch The Green, a cornerstone of the reggae music scene, with special guest DJ Hapa Boy, at the Blue Note Hawaiʻi on Jan. 23 and 24. The Green opened for Grammy-winning superstar Bruno Mars at his sold-out shows at Blaisdell Arena in 2014 and Aloha Stadium in 2018. The event is being presented by Island 98.5. Tickets for the upcoming Blue Note Hawaiʻi shows are $65-$85. Details.
“Dial M for Murder.” This murder mystery thriller is now on stage at Mānoa Valley Theatre. Aloha State Daily spoke with Dwight Martin, who plays the chief inspector, about his career and how it feels to be back on stage. He previously served as the theater's producing director for 38 years. The show runs Thursday through Sunday. It ends Sunday, Feb. 8. “Two Nails, One Love.” Kumu Kahua Theatre is bringing “Two Nails, One Love,” to the stage. The story, written by Lee A Tonouchi, is based on the novel by Alden M Hayashi. It follows Ethan Taniguchi, a recently single gay man in New York City who gets an unexpected visit from his estranged mother from Hawaiʻi. Tickets start at about $20. Details.
“The Last Five Years.” Diamond Head Theatre launched its first production of 2026. The musical “The Last Five Years,” which was recently on Broadway, follows a rising author and an aspiring actress as they fall in and out of love over five years. The musical’s score is by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown. Shows start Friday, Jan. 23, and end Sunday, Feb. 8. Tickets start at $43. Details.
SATURDAY, JAN. 24
Listen to Irie Love. The Kailua-based singer and songwriter Irie Love will present Herstory & Harmony: an Irie Love Experience at 6 p.m. at the Outrigger Waikīkī Paradise Hotel. Tickets start at $25. Get tickets. The Hawaiian reggae-soul artist, known for hits such as “It is Wut It Is,” “My Love,” and “Auright,” has more than 250,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. She will also perform from 10 p.m. until midnight at Moani Waikīkī. Details.
Living History Day. Catch the Living History Day at Battleship Missouri Memorial from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event commemorates the day the USS Missouri was launched into service, which is the same date she later opened to the public as the Battleship Missouri Memorial in Pearl Harbor. Enjoy live music from the Celtic Kula Pipe Band of Hawaiʻi, as well as the Wahiawa Middle School Band and the U.S. Pacific Fleet Band. The event includes activities for the entire ʻohana, including historical reenactments. Ship entry is free for kamaʻāina, military and Mighty Mo members. Regular admission rates apply for all other visitors. Pier activities are free and open to everyone. Details.
SUNDAY, JAN. 25
Kapono’s at The Lounge. The Hawaiʻi Kai-based waterfront space offering live music, drinks and food is now open. Kapono’s at The Lounge, which is a collaboration between the Nā Hōkū Hanohano award-winning singer and songwriter Henry Kapono, the Henry Kapono Foundation, and The Lounge at Island Sound Studios, launched with New Year’s Eve events. The Henry Kapono Foundation will present live music on Pau Hana Fridays. The space will also be home to a Saturday Live Concert Series and a Sunday Brunch, which features live music. Details.
