Aloha State Daily is teaming up with 94.7 Kumu to send one person and a friend to see Roosevelt High School graduate Bruno Mars at the opening of The Romantic tour on Saturday, April 11, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Mars released his newest album, “The Romantic,” on Feb. 27. It is his first solo album in almost a decade. The singer and songwriter grew up on Oʻahu as Peter Hernandez, and he is now a 16-time Grammy Award winner with more than 129 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Bruno Mars has five siblings, Jaime, Tiara, Tahiti, Presley and Eric. He recently helped his nephews, the up-and-coming North Shore-based brothers Nyjah Music and Zyah Rhythm produce the song “Burning Love,” which was part of the soundtrack for Disney’s live action “Lilo & Stitch.”
The Romantic Tour features Anderson .Paak, as DJ Pee .Wee; Leon Thomas; Raye; and Victoria Monét. It is set to travel to cities across the nation with international performances planned for Canada, France, Spain, Italy, and more.
In celebration of the new album release, The Lei Stand at Romer House Waikīkī recently held a Bruno Mars look-alike contest. The contestants were encouraged to dress as any era of Bruno Mars from his early throwback suits to his Silk Sonic-inspired style. Two of his sisters, Jamie Bayot and Tiara Hernandez, attended the competition. Raymart Danganan of O'ahu was named the winner and took home the grand prize of a $500 Lei Stand Waikiki gift card.
Listen to 94.7 Kumu for more information on how to sign up for a chance to see Mars perform live at the opening of his new tour. The grand prize winner will be announced on-air on Monday, March 30. Winners will also receive a Hawaiian print prize pack from Jeans Warehouse Hawaiʻi.
