“Presidents’ Day is the first opportunity in the new year to take advantage of a holiday schedule and allows families and communities to come together, and the museum offers a unique setting where history, service and discovery can be shared across generations,” said Andrew “Homer” Ring, executive director of the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum. “We’re excited to welcome families to explore our beautiful campus next to historic Pearl Harbor, walk through our beautifully preserved World War II submarine, learn together and create lasting memories.”
Ring has led the nonprofit museum since May 2, overseeing its $10 million budget and 35 full-time staff members. He succeeded Chuck Merkel, who retired having served in the role for nine years.
This year marks the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum’s 45th year in operation.
Tours aboard the USS Bowfin opened in 1981. The fleet submarine completed a total of nine Pacific patrols between 1943 and 1945 and was later donated to the Pacific Fleet Submarine Memorial Association in 1979. The museum now offers interactive experiences and exhibits showcasing WWII, the Cold War and the modern world.
General admission is typically $25.99 per adult and $14.99 per child ages 4-12.
