Located at Pier 38, Thirty Eight just launched a new happy hour. It’s from 2 to 5 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

The $2.50 oysters on the half shell (regular price is $4 each) are the most popular deal so far; a minimum of six oysters is required.
Other shareable pūpū include kamaboko crab dip ($8), poke crackers ($12 for two), shishito peppers ($12), edamame ($6), cabbage Caesar ($16), maguro cabbage ($21) and calamari katsu with cabbage ($17).
The kamaboko crap dip includes blue crab, kamaboko and imitation crab. It's finished with a furikake crumble, which delivers a savory crunch. It comes with Hilo-brand Maebo’s One-Ton Chips for dipping.

Drink specials include $10 cocktails, $7 beers and $12 wines by the glass. Cocktails range from dirty martinis and espresso martinis to old fashioneds and classic margaritas.

Thirty Eight also just expanded its lunch menu to include a variety of sandwiches. Options include the blackened ‘ahi BLT ($21), mahi sandwich ($22) and crispy chicken sandwich ($18).

The blackened ‘ahi BLT features local big-eye ‘ahi with red onions and tare aioli in an artisan bun. Meanwhile, the mahi sandwich features panko-crusted mahi mahi; we're told this is the eatery's twist on the Filet-O-Fish.

The crispy chicken sandwich is topped with guava chili and miso slaw. All sandwiches come with fries.

The blackened ‘ahi salad ($21) is ideal if you want something lighter but still filling. It features mixed greens topped with local big-eye ‘ahi, cucumbers, Ho Farms tomato and a sweet sesame dressing. It’s finished with Maebo’s One-Ton Chips for some added crunch.
The guava chili ‘ahi ($24) is the eatery’s newest lunch entrée. The panko-crusted ‘ahi is topped with guava chili and mochi crunch, and is served with potato salad and white rice.
Stay tuned — the eatery's new brunch menu will be coming soon.
