Located in SALT At Our Kakaʻako, Okome Ten-don & Poke opened last December. The biz specializes in tempura and poke bowls, and recently expanded its menu to include a variety of Korean dishes.
The Korean-style fried chicken is made with rice flour, so the crunchy exterior is gluten free, according to business owner Justin Youn. Customers can choose from four flavors — original, snow chicken (which features a cheese topping), garlic shoyu and yangnyeom. The latter is a sweet-and-spicy flavor.

Chicken can be ordered a la carte (10 pieces for $17.95, 20 pieces for $31.95-$32.95) or as part of combo sets. The Okome classic ($28.95) includes three flavors with fries; meanwhile, the recommended Okome combo A ($38.85) includes three chicken flavors, assorted tempura and a poke of your choice (Hawaiian, shoyu or spicy).
So far, we’re told the yangnyeom chicken is the most popular flavor; customers can choose between mild and spicy.
Other new Korean dishes include kalbi ($27), meat jun ($21.95), tteokbokki ($17.95) and crispy mandu ($12).
The kalbi is served with rice and a side salad. Meanwhile, the tteokbokki features chewy rice cakes served in a creamy, spicy sauce with fish cake and a boiled egg.

The eatery’s ten-don and poke menu continue to be popular options, especially during lunch. Customer favorites include shrimp ten-don ($19.75) — shrimp, squid, mushroom, sweet potato, kabocha, eggplant, shishito, nori and egg tempura over rice — and the Island Crunch poke bowl ($18.75), according to Youn.
The latter includes spicy ‘ahi poke, shrimp, seaweed salad and ‘ahi katsu over sushi rice.
