2026 months of rain ... means beautiful rainbows in the morning. Beautiful morning rainbow blessing us over the Koʻolaus, far left of Punchbowl Cemetery.

The sunsets at Kona are legendary of course, and this particular evening was spectacular after a day of golf, yard work and grilling out. We lost our Florida home back in 2004 to Hurricane Ivan, and we moved to Kona in 2007. We are so blessed to have found our piece of paradise here and every Kona sunset reminds us how fortunate we are to be living in Hawaiʻi. We live with our beloved dogs and cat, our stairway to heaven.

I was enjoying a lovely evening at Waimea Bay with my husband and our puppy, and I had to snap a photo of this gorgeous sunset! I had been watching our puppy race across the sand and we we were completely in the moment. As a weeknight after a full day of work, being able to end the evening at Waimea Bay was a reminder of how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place.

We were out sailing with some friends. … Everyone was wearing polarized sunglasses so it took a while for us to even notice and then suddenly as soon as we took off, the glasses were amazed at the complete rainbow and it’s brightness. It stayed across the city like that for a very long time and it was just the perfect Hawaiʻi rainbow and afternoon sailing.

Just in the right place right time

We are so blessed to live in Hawaiʻi and sometimes we just need to take time to enjoy it. When asked what restaurant I want to go to celebrate Mother’s Day, I responded with a simple picnic at the beach watching the sunset. It was so beautiful and relaxing!

Here's a picture I took on my way to Hāna on Maui. This was taken in October 2025 as I drove the narrow, curvy highway that was a thrill a minute. I hope you can use this picture, as it's one of my favorite memories from that visit.

This particular morning was a special one for me and my mom. We were spending time together, and it had been a long, long time since just the two of us sat down, had coffee, and watched a sunrise. We are both older now, and as an only child, we found ourselves reminiscing about things we had not talked about in quite a while. Watching the sunrise felt like more than just the start of a new day. It felt like a new beginning. It was a quiet moment in time where a mother and son could simply enjoy the stillness, the peace, and the beauty of being together at home.

Kukuiolono Park always has amazing sunrises and each time of year has its own unique quality. This picture was exceptional and one that I have not experienced in my 10 years living on Kauaʻi.

This rainbow photo comes after we weathered the three major storms and the lighting of it, in between stormy and sunny, gave a feeling of transition from foreboding to brightening. A release of tension and hope for the future. The rainbow is representative of everything beautiful about Hawaiʻi.

I loved the way the shadows against the mountain changed by the minute.

I took this picture from my son's home in Makakilo on Feb. 4. I love it because of the colors and because my granddaughter and I watched sunrises together before she went to school. I live in North Carolina and come to Oʻahu two or three times a year — I love being in Hawaiʻi!
